IMAX 3D: Dolphins and Whales worth it

Official Review
Matt Montgomery | Life Support Staff Writer

Aside from all the hustle and bustle and seemingly non-stop night club nature of the Grand Strand there are hidden family-friendly gems scattered about. One of them is most certainly the Imax at Broadway at the Beach.

Dolphins and Whales 3D: Tribes of the Ocean is now playing at the theatre three times per day for everyday of summer. It’s an intricate look at our ocean’s most gentle creatures displayed in a dizzying IMAX motion picture. The domed screen induces a fish-bowl type of feeling in that one might feel like they’re actually beneath the surface of the sea, swimming with the dolphins and whales. One good, necessary positive is that they can breathe, however.

The Dolphins and Whales three-dimensional film is great entertainment for all ages. Narrated by Saturday Night Live star Darryl Hannah, parents will also feel connected to his easy dictation of life under the sea.

The shows are approximately 45 minutes – which might serve as a brief respite to most parents who appreciate almost an hour of undivided silence. And if Dolphins and Whales 3D does not fit their interests, the IMAX at Broadway also runs four other regularly showings.

They are: Grand Canyon Adventure 3D: River at Risk @ 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 8 p.m. daily; Dinosaurs 3D: Giants of Patagonia @ 10 p.m. daily; Deep Sea 3D @ 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily; Sea Monsters 3D @ 2 p.m., 5 p.m., and 9 p.m. daily.
