Former Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers Tyler Thigpen, Quinton Teal, Jerome Simpson and Mike Tolbert are faring well in NFL Preseason games. Here is an update on the four former Chants.
Mike Tolbert- San Diego Chargers
In his first preseason contest against the Dallas Cowboys, Tolbert scored his first NFL touchdown on a one-yard rush, his only rush attempt of the game. In week two of the preseason, Tolbert had three rushes and caught three passes, accounting for 28 total yards in a contest against the St. Louis Rams.
Jerome Simpson- Cincinnati Bengals
Simpson, the Bengals second-round pick, started off slowly in his first contest in week one against the Green Bay Packers, catching one pass for 13 yards. In week two against Detroit, Simpson burst onto the scene, catching five balls for 114 yards. His longest reception came in the third quarter on a pass from Jeff Rowe for 42 yards.
Tyler Thigpen- Kansas City Chiefs
Thigpen, Coastal Carolina’s former All-American quarterback, has impressed in the preseason, earning the backup spot behind incumbent starter Brodie Croyle. In the first game of the preseason against the Chicago Bears, Thigpen was 8-of-16 for 113 yards, and threw one touchdown and an interception. In week two against the Arizona Cardinals, Thigpen played three quarters and was 16-for-27 for 174 yards with a touchdown and interception.
Quinton Teal- Carolina Panthers
Teal started off his 2008 preseason campaign with a bang, with an interception in the third quarter on a pass by Quinn Gray in the third quarter against Indianapolis. In the game, Teal also recorded four solo tackles. In week two against the Philadelphia Eagles, Teal recorded an assisted tackle
