Cristobal's projected path
Tropical Storm Cristobal is no longer a threat to the Grand Strand.
The storm, which threatened Myrtle Beach Saturday afternoon and canceled planned events, is now off the coast of North Carolina, well away from the area. The storm spawned sudden rain showers and increased wave heights to six and 10 feet swells over the weekend.
Tropical Storm Cristobal (pronounced sort of like a five-year old would say “crystal ball”) was 125 miles off the coast of Charleston, SC on Saturday afternoon. At approximately 2 p.m., the national weather service said it had 45 mph winds.
Cristobal became an official tropical storm early Saturday afternoon when Tropical Depression Three gained strength as it moved up the South Carolina Coast.
According to many online weather sources, Cristobal is expected to continue on a path away from the east coast of the U.S.
