Best Golf: Myrtle Beach's Prestwick Country Club named one of America's best Pete Dye courses

Another reason you need to plan a golf vacation to Myrtle Beach SC.

Golf Advisor has ranked Prestwick Country Club number 5 on it’s top 10 list of designs by Pete Dye in the United States. Prestwick is the only course in the Carolinas to make the list.

Dye has been designing golf courses for fifty years and considered to be the most influential golf course architect. Dye has courses on five continents.

Since 1989 the course has proven to be a test for skilled players while remaining playable for golfers of all levels, featuring six sets of tees.

Prestwick’s centerpiece is a 10-acre lake. The course also features pine and hardwood forests and Dye’s signature railroad-tie-lined hazards.

Dye designed Prestwick to remind golfers of the Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland.

This isn’t the first time for Prestwick to be honored. In 2004, it was named “One of the 5 Best Kept Secret Golf courses in America” and “30 Best You Can Play in South Carolina.” It was also named one of the “50 best layouts,” on a list that also included the Ocean Course at Kiawah and Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head.
