Best Reuben in the Myrtle Beach area

As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, I like to think about one of my favorite sandwiches: The Reuben.

The Reueben is not particularly an Irish sandwich, with arguments that it originated in either New York or Nebraska. Corned beef, however, is a staple in Irish cuisine and corned beef and cabbage are supposed to bring you luck on New Year’s Day, so why not March 17.

For those not aware, the Reuben is comprised of corned beef, sauerkraut, Russian dressing and Swiss cheese between toasted rye bread. It is a perfect combination of sweet, savory and gooey cheese goodness when made correctly.

The Myrtle Beach area as some great Reubens, so here are my five favorites. I obviously haven’t eaten every Reuben on the Grand Strand as there are thousands of Myrtle Beach restaurants, so let me know your favorites so I can try it for next year.

They also offer a Philly Reuben with pastrami and cole slaw, and you can also get corned beef AND pastrami on your sandwich. Combine with onion rings and a drink for one of the best lunches around.[slposts title_only=false excerpt_length=30 thumbnail=true thumbnail_wh=250×250 thumbnail_re=thumbnail custom_post_type=accommodation,attractions,golfcourse,nightspot,post,restaurant,shop instance=number-2 tag=reuben-2]• Why it made the list: Don’t let it being in the food court at the Coastal Grand Mall fool you, because this Reuben will rival most all you have in big restaurants. Fresh ingredients, corned beef on the thickly sliced side, as I prefer mine thin.[slposts title_only=false excerpt_length=30 thumbnail=true thumbnail_wh=250×250 thumbnail_re=thumbnail custom_post_type=accommodation,attractions,golfcourse,nightspot,post,restaurant,shop instance=number-3 tag=reuben-3]• Why it made the list: Just a fun place to eat and so much attention into every dish.[slposts title_only=false excerpt_length=30 thumbnail=true thumbnail_wh=250×250 thumbnail_re=thumbnail custom_post_type=accommodation,attractions,golfcourse,nightspot,post,restaurant,shop instance=number-4 tag=reuben-4]• Why it made the list: Excellent flavor. Corned beef made in house daily. Only reason not higher on my list is meat is thick, so if that’s your thing you might want to move this one up. Excellent place to enjoy an evening.[slposts title_only=false excerpt_length=30 thumbnail=true thumbnail_wh=250×250 thumbnail_re=thumbnail custom_post_type=accommodation,attractions,golfcourse,nightspot,post,restaurant,shop instance=number-5 tag=reuben-5]• Why it made the list: They use Thousand Island dressing instead of Russian, which is a no-no for me. However, the flavor is fantastic enough to get it on this list, and what a place to enjoy some sports action and have a pint.
