Brookgreen Gardens is starting August in a busy fashion, including the National Sculpture Society’s 84th annual Awards Exhibition.
It’s among amenities all free with admission, which lasts seven days: $16 ages 13-64, $14 ages 65 and older, $8 ages 4-12, and free ages 3 and younger:
— Scuplture exhibition, opening Saturday, Aug. 5, and going through Oct. 29, with 47 works (chosen from 233 entries). More details at nationalsculpture.org/exhibitions/84th-annual-awards-exhibition/.
— Home stretch for “Cool Summer Evenings,” with gardens open until 9 p.m. Wednesdays-Fridays, through Aug. 11, and concerts at 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays: Oracle Blue Aug. 4, Reggie Sullivan Band Aug. 9, and Tru Sol Aug. 11. Also, on Thursdays through Aug. 10: family games at 5 p.m., frog crafts and activities 5:30, and Ron Daise orating stories at 6:15 p.m.
— “Children Activity Days,” in “Energy Rocks” theme, for ages 4-12, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Aug. 10-14, with such activities as gem mining stations and building a circuit, and Brookgreen’s animal ambassadors visiting at 11 a.m. on each of those days.
