Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach SC adds new exhibit, SLIME

Ripley’s Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach just got slimier!

SLIME, the newest exhibit at the most popular attraction in Myrtle Beach, opened this past week and displays some of the ocean’s slimiest creatures from mud puppies to moray eels to clown fish, pictured above, that emit a slimy substance when they go in and out of anemones.

The exhibit houses more than 15 new aquarium tanks that feature:

  • soap fish
  • bullfrogs
  • hagfish
  • discus fish
  • African lungfish
  • parrot fish
  • moray eels
  • mud puppies
  • clownfish & anemones
  • snails, slugs & more

All of these aquatic animals use slime during their daily routines and the exhibits help explain how and why slime is important to their survival. Kids and families are invited to meet Larry, the Banana Slug, and all of his slimy friends! There are more than 30 exciting and educational exhibits that include interactive areas and videos.

Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach is open 365 days a year and is one of the most visited attractions in South Carolina.  It is best known for its shark exhibit and an underwater tunnels.
