The Alabama Theatre's 'South's Grandest Christmas Show' sets the mood for a wonderful holiday season

The weather outside might be frightful, but the show inside is delightful at the Alabama Theatre at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach SC.

The annual presentation of the South’s Grandest Christmas show recently kicked off another season and is guaranteed to put you in a festive mood.

The extravaganza features music and dancing from contemporary hits to those holiday classics … and make no mistake, this show is about Christmas.

Gut-busting comedian Grant Turner (aka Ricky Mokel), sets the tone for those who might be offended with a mere mention of Christmas or 70 in the opening monologue. Then, sit back and be ready to be amazed.

From the incredible light show, the toe-tapping music, extravagant dance numbers and even an aerial visit from old Saint Nick himself, the South’s Grandest Christmas Show will keep young and old riveted throughout the more than 2 hour performance.

In Alabama Theatre style, skits will have you smiling, laughing, clapping or singing along. Heck, there are a couple where you will probably cry, as the cast salutes the troops and invites children to the stage for a heart-touching rendition of “Angels Among Us” by the theater’s namesake group, Alabama.

Greg Rowles, who will change outfits more time than can be counted, is right on point with his deliverance through music and words of what Christmas should be about, and his supporting cast obviously echoes his feelings.

Rodney Williams and Denise Collins pair up for several numbers sure to give you chills and Jason Cox offers his unique talents to a moving rendition of “Ave Maria.”

Guitarist Kenny Duncan, pianist Tim Oakes and the rest of the orchestra will also have your heart thumping with an inspiring version of “The Little Drummer Boy.”

All in all, there is something for everyone at the South’s Grandest Christmas Show, which is guaranteed to put you in the mood for the holidays whether it’s 8 degrees or 80 outside.
