Carolina Ale House – A Tasty addition to Broadway at the Beach

When folks in the area think of a watering hole, no doubt dozens of great bars and pubs comes to mind. Though only a few months old, the addition of Carolina Ale House in the old Planet Hollywood location is quickly becoming a new go-to for many locals in the area. This growing chain has spread to seven southern states and proudly offers 60 beers on tap plus seasonal rotating beers.

While enthusiastic about their impressive supply of ales, Carolina Ale House is also a sports bar with dozens of screens hanging inside and out. All sports are covered, and for the occasional party who would rather play a game than watch one, the restaurant has two pool tables and an area set aside on the porch for cornhole.

The menu has all array of pub grub, from award-winning wings to pizza and everything in between. Just like the wide selection of beers, Carolina Ale House makes it easy for everyone to find something to enjoy.

Appetizers begin with finger foods like sliders and pretzels, and the chain’s popular and delicious version of fried pickles chips, “frickles.”
Appetizers can also come as “shareables” such as the beer-battered cheese curds and the picky platter which has a little bit of a lot. The Carolina Nachos are a popular choice and can be served as a half or whole serving, but even the smaller size is enough for a small group to enjoy.

The nachos can be topped with chicken, pork, or chili, each one adding its own unique flavor to the mix.

Some salads and soups are on the menu, plus sandwiches and wraps. Yet even these meals that are considered lighter are massive and filling. Burgers and entrees are even more gracious with the serving sizes. Carolina barbeque has a place, as it should, and one of the burgers comes topped with bacon and house made pimento cheese.

Last but not least there is small selection of pizza and tacos, the latter of which come with a side of rice instead of beer-battered fries or coleslaw. Like all other Carolina Ale House locations, ours holds to the standard of using fresh ingredients. Vegetarians have their options although those with more restrictions may want to start a conversation with their server.

While this young restaurant may still be working out the occasional kink, they have a hardworking team on the floor and behind the counter. It’s a big restaurant that becomes busy fast but offers many friendly faces and not to mention plenty of screens to keep occupants occupied.

Deals and specials are being worked out as well, such as Tuesday nights when kids can eat for a dollar. As Carolina Ale House settles in and spreads out, the restaurant will also begin hosting events and supporting the local community as the brand name promises. In the meantime, drop by, enjoy one of the dozens of beers, fill up on good food, and have fun.
