Bringing in fresh seafood is always a surefire way to reel in the locals and this new restaurant in Conway opened just in time to get the visitors as well. Low Country Fish House got their start in April of this year with a team of knowledgeable business owners and chefs behind the scene.
In the Food Lion shopping center just beside Horry Georgetown Technical College, Low Country settled in at the very end of the strip. While the exterior hasn’t changed too much, the inside of the restaurant has been spruced up, appearing clean and even sophisticated, but far from pretentious.
A decently sized menu is filled with mouthwatering entrees, baskets, and sandwiches, making the team’s experience noticeable from the get go. Their appetizers, called “Shore Snacks,” have popular choices like Southern Rockefeller Oysters and shrimp by the ½ pound.
The starters and meals aren’t exclusively from the surf, with wings and a selection of steaks for customers wanting to enjoy the turf as well. Pasta has a place too, such as the Grilled Chicken Bloody Mary pasta tossed in a house made vodka bloody Mary sauce. Guests can also choose to create their own salad with a large array of toppings, including raw fruits and vegetables and multiple protein options.
Of course, the guests drawn in by the restaurant’s name won’t be disappointed with great choices from the ocean. The catch of the day is always worth inquiring about, but the two salmon options also put up a good argument. Low country favorites show up as well, allowing the restaurant to live up to its name.
For those who can’t decide what to indulge in, the seafood platter has a bit of everything piled onto one plate. Flounder, clams, oysters, shrimp, and a deviled crab cake are filling enough, but these delicious creatures from the sea also come with coleslaw, fries, and hushpuppies.
Low Country celebrates Happy Hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with discounted house liquors and beers. Adults will also find the restaurant’s unique cocktails worth trying, while others may prefer to indulge their sweet tooth in one of the desserts.
Though young, Low Country Fish House has a hardworking team with the experience and determination to make it successful. Meals are made using fresh ingredients and the service is attentive, accompanied by a willingness to answer questions and accept critiques. Good seafood has sailed just inland enough for Conway locals, so dive in and enjoy.
