Residents of Pawleys Island, a town south of Myrtle Beach SC, can now shop at that area’s first Publix Supermarket, which opened its doors on Wednesday, March 25.
“We are excited to begin serving customers in Pawleys Island and providing premier service, quality products and value – including a large selection of buy-one get-one free deals weekly,” said Kim Reynolds, Charlotte media and community relations manager, in a release.
Publix offers customers a deli that sells Boar’s Head meats and cheeses, custom subs known as “Pub Subs,” hummus, gourmet soups and more. Publix also houses a produce department, a bakery, a wine department, a cooking demonstration station that offers two recipes per week, a full-service meat department, a full-service seafood department and a full-service pharmacy.
Publix has more than 1,000 stories across the southeast region of the U.S. and has been named one of Fortune 500’s “100 Best Companies to Work For in America.”
“When we look to go to a community, here especially, it was one of the places that was requested for Publix to come,” said Kim Reynolds, manager of media and community relations for Publix’s Charlotte division. “We look at that, the neighborhoods, and the number of households, but ultimately what it comes down to is working with local governments and officials. It was a wonderful partnership and here we are and we couldn’t be more excited. We’re celebrating our 85th birthday this year what a great way to come to Pawleys Island.”
Publix also has one other location in North Myrtle Beach and a third area location is planned for the Carolina Forest area of Myrtle Beach.
“The response from the community has been wonderful,” Reynolds said about the Pawleys Island location opening. “It has been overwhelming today, it’s been busy, lots of people coming to say hello, not only people who have shopped with us before but new customers as well, which is really exciting. We’re humbled by it. It’s been a great response.”
