Myrtle Beach International Airport welcomed its 1 millionth passenger on Nov. 2 — a milestone never reached by MYR in a calendar year.
One lucky, random passenger on Spirit’s flight No. 843, coming from Chicago’ O’Hare was awarded 1,000,000 flight miles for being on that flight. All others on that flight received 5,000 Spirit miles.
- In 2017, MYR is the fastest growing airport in the region – seat capacity is up 20% over 2016, and up 56% over 2012. (MYR is the fast growing in the region followed by Charleston, Wilmington, Greenville, Columbia and Florence – 2017 vs 2012) (per flight schedules)
- In 2017, MYR has the most commercial air carriers serving the airport in the region (7 airlines – Allegiant, American, Delta, Porter, Spirit, United and WestJet), while Charleston has 6, Greenville 5, Columbia 3, Wilmington 2 and Florence 1 (per flight schedules)
- MYR continues to have the lowest average fare in the region at $110… the region’s average net fare is $203 each way (per the US DOT, average for 1st quarter and 2nd quarter 2017)
