American Airlines announced nonstop air service from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Myrtle Beach International Airport commencing June 7, 2018.

The new seasonal, Saturday only, nonstop air service will commence on June 7, 2018 and operate through August 20, 2018. American Airlines will operate the service using an E-175 aircraft:

Chicago is already a market served by bargain airline Spirit, which is MYR’s largest carrier, and United Airlines. A sample flight from Chicago to Myrtle Beach on June 9, and returning June 16 found the American Airlines flight costing $347 roundtrip and the Spirit flight costing $430 roundtrip.

“American’s decision to introduce service from O’Hare International in Chicago to Myrtle Beach International Airport is exciting news,” said Scott Van Moppes, director of airports for Horry County. “The O’Hare International Airport is a global hub for American Airlines, passengers in the Grand Strand now have another convenient option for traveling to the Chicago area, points across the United States and markets around the world. American is a vital partner to the airport and community; we thank them for their continued commitment to our market.”
