Hobcaw programs include ‘Art and Soul’ look at treasures

Hobcaw Barony, spanning 16,000 acres on U.S. 17, between DeBourdieu Colony and Georgetown, will stay busy with tours for the rest of summer, and keep the pace into fall.

A special program, “Art and Soul, Hobcaw’s Art Collection” – with artworks not usually on exhibit, and covering the theft of a number of pieces, and their recovery and return in 2016 – is 1:30-4:30 p.m. Aug. 16, for $30, with room for 28 people.

Two-hour barony introductory tours are at 10 and 11 a.m. Tuesdays-Fridays, and 10 a.m. Saturdays, into early September, for $20. Also, bookings continue for many seasonal tours this autumn, which include “Behind the Scenes” excursions across Hobcaw, 1:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 12, 20 and 26, each $30; and a “Bellefield Plantation Tour,” 1:30-3:30 p.m. Oct. 3 and Nov. 7, each $20.

Reservations are required for all tours at 843-546-4623, or hobcawbarony.org, where a full calendar list is posted.
