Celebrate the holidays with sea creatures!
Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle Beach SC is decked out for the holidays for the annual Festival of Trees!
This year’s festival, which runs from November 6 to December 31, is bigger than ever.
Twenty new trees have been adding, bringing the total to 75!
“We’ve upped our game this year” says Craig Atkins, General Manager Ripley’s Myrtle Beach, “and added a lot more of everything to the Festival of Trees. We hope everyone will come celebrate the holidays with us and check out tens of thousands of lights in and around the Aquarium!”
The trees represent all fifty states. So, as you walk through the aquarium, try to find your home state.
Some of the festival’s most unique trees include the glistening white decorated Alaska tree; the Kentucky Derby inspired red roses tree; the all patriotic Pennsylvania tree; Oklahoma, with longhorns for a topper; and the magnificent Mardi Gras tree with masks and beads representing Louisiana.
You will also see a few upside down trees throughout the aquarium.
Also new this year, a mailbox for letters to Santa. For each stamped letter we receive, Ripley’s will donate one toy to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots. Ripley’s is an official drop-off location for the Toys for Tots Program.
If that’s not enough to get you in the holiday spirit, you can enjoy performances from Ripley’s Ruckus Drumline on the Aquarium’s plaza every weekend.
Festival of Trees is included with regular aquarium admission, and the aquarium is open daily at 9 a.m. including Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Day.
